You
may have to look hard to see the tail of
the Herc in this one. There was a Ground Control Approach (GCA) facility to guide the aircraft in. We knew from the radio that they had landed. We could hear them as they came closer to the main ramp. But this was the first point we could see the plane. I've hear the aircrews describe landing at the Pole like landing in a ping pong ball. Air operations are intense. There are a lot of demands on the aircraft and the crews. And Cargo Operations. |
