| Peidmont Glacier |
| Palmer Station sits on a peninsula. The Peidmont glacier pours into the bays on both sides. It was our back yard. It had seasons of its own. There were times when it would just rumble. It would sound (and feel) like thunder. We became familiar with its face and could tell when it changed. We could also tell something about the glaciers activity by the amount of ice in the bay. Another bay just "down the street" was called Load Water Cove. It was a powerful place. |
