There's a reason for the distance between nests. Note the white lines radiating out from each nest. Nest are spaced based on the average space needed for a sanitary neighborhood. Many penguins had white lines running across their backs, the result of a long shot by their neighbors. It was hard to find a clean penguin to take pictures of.
